jayjay
Over the last couple of weeks Daffers and Bill have been laying very inconsistently if at all . They have been pretty noisy (broody?) for the last few weeks and were nest building etc but now we are getting no eggs at all. Is this normal? We were wondering if they were being scared by something or if there was another issue. Advice gratefully received. JJ
Chucky1
Hi JJ Not sure if its normal but ours are at the same thing. We always use to have two lovely eggs first thing in the morning, until about 5 or 6 weeks ago. Then Maisey an Ed go down to the stream and play house. They seem over it for the most part but now Maisey is on anti bi's so we have to discard her eggs and as we not 100% sure who laid what we have to discard Quacks egg too Good Luck
jayjay
Morning Chucky Thanks for the reply - I have noticed that there is a thread on the eggs section saying the same about a lot of the chickens. Strange but maybe just that time of year . This is our first summer with the quacks so first encounter with the not laying situation. They seem healthy enough, still a bit fiesty mind you. Anyway just going to have to keep an eye. JJ PS - lovely house!!

Lesley
The heat will affect laying, same with hens, but they could also be moulting? - our ducks are moulting at the moment......feathers everywhere......and we are collecting fewer eggs. jayjay
Thanks L There have been a few feathers about in their pool and it has been quite warm up here although windy - which they don't like. No eggs again today and only 1 yesterday. Any ideas how long they could be under the weather for? How long does a moult last. This is our first time through it all! mrs bun
Hi everyone, Our pair are exactly the same. This is now the 3rd day that Elsie hasn't laid. They are both shedding quite a few feathers and it's quite warm here at the moment. Other than that they seem fine, they're both happy splashing about, eating, drinking & quacking! Lol When should we worry? Many thanks, Sarah
Lesley
If the ducks are otherwise happy and healthy then no need to worry - they will start laying again and then they carry on laying through winter when the hens stop.
