Yellow droppings & Poorly Chicken

Recommended Posts

My 2 chestnut rangers are also producing bright yellow liquid.

1 went to the vets about 2 months ago with peritonites and i thought ( hoped )

she was getting better although no eggs from both girls since.

Dusty is very quiet and her back tail feathers are folded over her vent

the pulsating also seems very pronounced.

Not sure what to do either. :(

The local vet gave her 2 injections 1 for calcium and the other antibiotics. I also brought home 3 small tablets

also antibiotics, a couple of days previous an egg had broken inside but the vet checked and Dusty with a warm bath had managed to expel it. After a few days she was running and jumping and acting like her usual self but these past

2 weeks not so good. At first I thought it could be the weather what with Rusty being the same but the last

2 days it has been cooler and no change in either.

She sounds like she needs to see the vet again. Did the vet actually say that she had peritonitis? Her previous condition sounded related to the egg that was broken. Can you feel a fluid filled abdomen? Has she been laying since the broken egg was removed? If her abdomen is full of fluid it will need draining to make her more comfortable but this is a short term fix, not a cure. The fluid will reform.

Went to watch the Grand Prix at Silverstone my son who usually looks after the girls

texted me to say everything fine Dusty still alittle under the weather but still dashing

for the sweetcorn and carrots that I had left as treats and also to get them back in

their pen when he'd finished cleaning etc.

I suppose he didnt want to worry me but when we returned on Monday I had an awful

shock she looked so bad, her comb had flopped over her eyes and she just didnt have

any energy. The next day she didnt come out of the nesting area of the cube so I tood

her the vets and she was put down. She was my favourite and a fighter even the vet

agreed she clung on, her fight for survival was enormous. She will be dreadfully missed.

Thank you.
