Missing her broody mate.

Recommended Posts

I have 2 chickens. Since getting them in March they have been a dream - no problem at all. I now have a problem. One has gone broody, I'm trying to break this and I'm able to cope with her behaviour. My real problem is with Ging who is left. She has become incredibly noisey. Until I covered the eglu house, I was having to get up at 4.30 to let her out. I tried leaving the door open, but then she just stood in the run and squarked from before dawn. It has now reached the point where I can't leave her in the run due to the fuss and noise she kicks up.

Could this change in behaviour be due to her not having her mate to buddy around with? I let my 2 kittens out in the garden for the first time at the weekend, and she went around with them all day and was much more settled. My problem is I can't be at home all day and I dread to think what noise she is creating when I'm at work during the day - I'm waiting for the knock on the door from the neighbours.

Has anyone any advice?

Thanks
