louise62
I'm so eggcited! I checked the nest box this morning and there was nothing. This afternoon I just thought I would have a look and there it was, nestled in the straw, one perfect I don't know which chicky laid it, but they both seem to be very proud So this is what all the fuss is about! Mercedes55
Isn't it just the greatest feeling. Have you eaten it yet I scrambled my hens first egg and tried to feed it back to them, as was recommended to me, however they weren't very impressed so the dog had the very first egg. Out of our 4 ex batts I have no idea which ones are laying eggs but I've been getting 2 a day since last weekend. 1 is always in the run and so far from the the run door that it's nigh impossible to get it. This morning I took the egg hatch door off and had to get my head and shoulders inside the Eglu so that I could get my hand into the run to grab it. The other egg is always in the nest, so one of my hens has learnt in a very short time that the nest is where you lay them. I have given all my eggs away so far, for some reason I just want to let other people have them. My mum has just gone off with her 2nd lot this week and she said they tasted lovely
louise62
Ooh I'm not letting the chicks have the eggs back, scrambled or otherwise I just wish I knew which one laid it
Sherbet
Congratulation! It is a great feeling when you find your first egg, not sure which one of mine laid our 1st egg, that was Wednesday (only got them Tuesday afternoon) but we didn't have any yesterday (Thur). Hoping to have another today. I haven't ate mine it is sitting in an egg box, i think i may have it when i get another one as they are really small at the moment, and make an omlette! The Chickens The Dog - no way I would let them anywhere near my first eggs
