lesleysprite
Hi, Does anyone mix their own feed? At the moment My chickens get veg s"Ooops, word censored!"s boiled up with oatmeal, sometimes plus barley, rice or pasta, plus lots of lentils, beans or peas most days, and always some layers pellets. They free range a lot and gets lots of slugs worms ect. Then in the afternoon they get wheat and maize. The pellets aren't a big part of their diet at the moment but There are days when either they don't get out their run or I haven't made a boil up for them. I'd like to stop buying layers pellets and mix up my own feed so I know where it all comes from, I know whats in it, I know its not causing rainforest destruction on the other side of the world etc. I've seen recipes but they had a huge number of ingredients and I want to keep it simple, and preferably stuff that can be produced in the uk, certainly not soya. Does anyone have any suggestions? Lesley
Griffin
I use 4 parts whole wheat, 2 parts rolled barley & 1 part cut maize with a dollop of cod liver oil. Fresh greens every day and leftover pasta & rice a couple of times a week. They're all fit and healthy girls
