Hi,

I don't know if any of you can help.

 

I have an eglu in a run and have just fund red mite on most of the fence posts and all over my daughters wooden climbing frame/playhouse - most of our garden is under a big oak tree so I think they're coming down from the birds up there.

 

I don't have any problem with the eglu itself but need something I can spray all over the fence, posts and climbing frame - obviously it needs to be something that's safe for my daughter to be around once treated.

 

any ideas?

RIP Fleas is a household flea spray that kills red mites. As it is tested for use in the home it should be fine.

Hi, are you sure it is red mite? They hide from UV light so you would find a cluster of tiny red dots inside the eglu or somewhere dark. In a wooden coop they would hide in the crevices in the wood or under the perch and come out to feed on the chickens when they roost.

 

This sounds like red spiders or another insect? Fingers crossed for you.
