Eglu cube or go up with 2m run

Hi All

 

I gave my eglu its first full clean this weekend and now that the run is attached to it, it is incredibly difficult to get the pin back through to secure the eglu lid. At the moment, it is taking two of us to manage to get the lid secured back in place. I think it the position of the screws attaching the run to the eglu that are stopping the lid fitting as snugly as it should, therefore meaning that when the bar is pushed through, the hole to put the pin through is not showing. Has anyone else had this problem and if so, have you managed to solve it?

We've only taken the lid off our Eglu twice and both times it's been hard to get it back on again due to that bar at the bottom and we have to fiddle around a bit before it will go through far enough to put the pin in

Good to know I am not the only one - I thought I was being a real wimp! How are your chooks settling in now?

I've always had to "jiggle" around with the lid to find just the right place for the bar to push through, and then suddenly it all falls into place, .... but it isn't something that needs two people to do...so it might be worth getting in touch with Omlet to check it out?

I have to 'fiddle' with mine a bit, but I usually find that if the bar isn't out far enough when I put the lid back on, this makes it harder to push back in. I always now check that the bar is still fully open before I put the lid on and that helps hugely.

No you aren't a wimp at all. I asked my OH when he got home last night and he thinks it's something to do with the run being attached to the Eglu and that you really have to push down hard on the top so that it presses the run down a bit.

 

Our chooks have settled in fine thanks, although having 4 in a standard run is not ideal. However they have more room than they are used to and at last they are getting feathers on them and laying eggs too, so I guess they must be happy
