Katyed
Hi Sadly one of our hens died yesterday after a surprise attack. We heard noise went out and one of the hens was bleeding from the head and died immediately. We've no idea what it could have been. There was no sign of any animal or anything that might have dropped on here. We are going to replace with 2 hens asap as we are advised that you don't want to leave it too long for the hens to adjust. Any top tips for adjustment? Thanks Katy
lillybettybabs
Could it have been a bird of prey?
Olly
Oh dear, sorry to hear that. I can't suggest what it might have been. Take a look on the FAQs (Board Index - Frequently Asked Questions - ...about Chickens - Introducing Point of Lay Hens) for advice on introduction, if you are introducing two new ones to a solo hen it's probably a bit easier, but take it slowly is the best advice.
