SRM
I have several aylesburys & have just added to their numbers, a couple are constantly fighting/wressling - is this normal? should I let them get on with it? will/can they kill one another?? Can anyone advise??
donald
Hi As long as you havent added one on its own, just keep an eye on them and as long as they have room to keep out of each others way? More than one male? Ducks can have some right barneys and feathers are plucked, I have gone out thinking one has been killed before due to the large amount of feathers. Perhaps put out more than one feed dish too to let them settle it. Yes quite normal. They really stand up to each other dont they chest to chest donald
SRM
Yes they really do have a good battle, am pleased to say they are, slowly getting on a bit better, main worry was if the head/neck bending they were forcing upon each other was done whilste on the pond - maybe they would drown the weaker loser?? must be just a 'pecking order' status thing? Thanks for the reasurance
jayjay
Hi SRM The pond action is really nothing to worry about - my 2 girls do it all the time - there is a thread somewhere about it when I had a panic too My larger female Daff sits on Billie and pushes her head under the water several times - nothing untoward has happened so don't worry about it - just natural duckie behaviour
