sammy29
Hi, just wondering what big bushes I could put in my run. Preferably one that the girls won't eat but one that could provide a bit of shelter for them if the weather is miserable. Thanks Sam
chickenNutter
My chooks leave Fatsia japonica, Rosemary, Griselina, Phormiums Laurel and Choisya alone. i have got rosemary a climbing rose, passion flower and a vine in their WIR, they have browsed a bit of the lower leaves of the passion flower and rose but leave the rest alone. The other bushes are in their free range area and they don't touch them. in fact one night when I had shut the eglu door by mistake earlier in the day, I went out after dark to find them roosting and keeping out of the rain int he Choisya - it took me a while to find them! Snowy
The only thing still alive in my run is holly. They did have sambuccas, hebes, weigela and a cherry tree. What they haven't eaten has been smothered in dust and suffocated.
docsquid
If you put them in pots you'll need to cover the pots so they don't dig up the bushes and use the pots as dust baths!
