Hubby just eaten the 'first' egg.

And said it was delicious :lol:

I think hes quite taken with our new little additions to the family. Considering he was always against me having any, its funny how hes come round to them now. Admitted he quite liked them this morning. Though they were quite nice looking chickens.

First thing he did this morning when he got up was to peek out the window and see if they were in the run and clucking about. :D . Over brekkie was talking to him about a WIR, and said I was thinking of moving the location of it more to the other side of garden, but he doesnt want to do that and prefers that we can see them from upstair bedroom.

Men :lol::lol::lol:

Awww how cool is that Deb :D Hope your ladies will give you another egg, so that you can have one too! :D

We're new to chickens and will be welcoming our new family additions tomorrow - really looking forward to it!

Like you, I had to give my lovely hubbly some gentle persuasion as well, but I feel sure he's looking forward to our ladies coming home and of course the lovely eggies too!

Did you get yours from Omlet? I see you've got a green Eglu. We're getting a Pink Eglu classic :D

Morning Bev,

welcome to the forum. You will find everyone so helpful on here. Its a wonderful site. :D Especially for us first timers who need to ask questions and get reassurance. I have been on other animal sites where asked a simple question and had such caustic answers its off putting... but not on here. I am so glad found this site.

I first saw a cube at a recent weekend show, and wanted one of those... started trying to talk hubby round as have wanted chickens for ages but he was against it. I wore him down though

He too liked the look of the cube and eventually came round to the idea of us buying one and getting a few chickens. We have spare garden area thats massively overgrown and ideal for setting them up there. So started a few weeks ago preparing it with the intent on getting the garden ready then having a cube/chickens and Walk in run.

However, the eglu I have just had came up for sale recently and was only a mile away from me... so contacted the seller who kindly let me pop round to go see it close up, and we agreed on the sale. It seemed meant to be, especially as the lady was also from my running club too. Its a small world sometimes. :o

They kindly dropped it all off yesterday for us... and we are now the proud owners of the (green eglu) and 2 warren hens. The hens are already laying as approx 5 months old.

It does feel a bit daunting when you first have them, but so egg-citing too. :D There is something quite special about finding an egg in the nesting box. You never give it a second thought when you buy a box of eggs, but to find a home laid one is something else.

I still plan to get a cube later on, and the eglu will come in for a spare for introductions etc.

Only one more day to wait for yours, I bet you are so egg-cited. I would love to have had a (pink eglu) or even (cube pink) later on, but hubby is insisting we have (cube green) . I have to give in on that one.

I have only had mine one day and think they are fab. I can see why people on here say its a slippery slope to getting a few more.:lol::lol::lol:

Yes I know what you mean Deb, I've experienced that with some Doggy forums :( but it does seem nice here and folks are really helpful

Awww how fab is that you finding your chucks and the Eglu locally. Is it the Go or the Classic? :)

We're not too far away from where Omlet are based so hopefully our ladies won't be too stressed by their journey. You're right, we're very egg-cited :lol::lol: me especially about our new arrivals!

Looking forward to chatting more over the coming days weeks and months :D:D
