amateurkeeper
Our light sussex has kind of answered this for me today after finding a way into their run but we've had 3 ex-batts for nearly 3 weeks now, and they are finally behaving like, well, chickens!! They've had the fights through the fence already - general pecking and fluffing of feathers! - and when the light sussex got into the run this morning it was roaming around with them, not taking any notice - until I tried to chase it back into it's own run and it ran past an ex-batt and got a sharp peck on the back!! Would seem the ex-batts are boss!!! Would it be ok to start letting them free-range tomorrow (whilst supervising)?
Lavenders_Blue
I think it would be worth a try, by the sounds of it there were no major dust ups when your LS got into the ex bats' run. Perhaps you could stand by with a water pistol/hose to spray them if they start fighting and just be prepared to separate them again if it gets really nasty. Put out extra food and water just in case so that there is plenty to go round. Good luck, hope it all goes smoothly! Let us know how you get on.
