Chucky Mama
If it is 'speckling' it is probably calcium. I get more spots and speckles if I add a calcium to their diet. Have you added any supplements? I stop adding it when the eggs get speckled.
Rooster Booster
Haven't added anything the eggs are coming from an ex battery hen who hadn't laid for about three months could it be because she has just started to lay again and perhaps it will work itself through ? Trougher
Our three ex-batts who arrived yesterday afternoon have laid 4 eggs between them so far. We know which one has laid the most recent egg as we saw her doing it, but don't know who laid the others. One of the ones which we collected this morning had a white ring on it. Would that be a calcium deficiency as well? My son ate it for breakfast, and seems to be fine! Lynne
Rooster Booster
I have worked out what it is - it's dust sticking to the eggs off the sawdust they sit on .. *wipes brow*
