Nature Chick
Hi there Daisy started laying a week ago We were gardening last night and little Lily looked a bit under the weather and then started straining - as soon as the words "I wonder if she is coming into lay" had left my mouth a little egg popped out and rolled into the veg patch!! Lily then perked up and hurried off to join the others! When I picked the egg up I noticed it didn't have a shell. I know that first eggs can be 'abnormal' so I wasn't too worried, but this morning we went out and there was another one in the nest box Could she have had a couple of eggs backed up? They are on layers pellets and have plenty of grit - will this settle down? Thanks s x Edited September 20, 2010 by Guest
Chucky Mama
As she is a newbie I wouldn't worry too much, it should settle down

Nature Chick
Lily was very agitated yesterday (and noisy!), their house was dismantled for cleaning and I wondered if she was looking for somewhere to lay her egg, so I quickly cleaned out the house and made a lovely nest for her, popped her in and closed the door. 15 minutes later out she came and in the nest was a perfect egg - her first with a shell!
