Gelbel
I just thought I would share why I have a massive smile on my face on such a horrible, grey damp day - seeing as there have been so much sad news on here recently. I had to bumper bit Madge the other week as Cissie and Ada had bald bums and I caught her in the act (separating Madge was causing all thge girls some distress so I had to go down the bumper bit route). It only took a week for Cissie to put Madge back in her place so we risked taking the bumper bit off. That was fine but Madge went broody within hours (she was only broody a few weeks ago ). Thank goodness for shorter days - the other two lay at first light these days so I can close off the nest box and turf Madge out into the runs (opening the nest box when they have all gone to bed). So we've been playing the hokey-cokey with Madge and the nest box for about a week and I've not been so grateful for the past two cold days. This morning I was greeted by a big ball of ginger feathers running to greet me with her non-stop chattering. My 'real' Madge is back and all is well in the world (well in mine anyway).
