Guest Posted October 6, 2010 Share Posted October 6, 2010 we've had the house for some time and the intention of getting some....but haven't got round to it, well, until freecycle! Saw a post on freecycle for '5 quail to a good home'. The guy had them living in his aviary with parakeets. He was given them by someone else. He didn't know the age, breed or sex so we said we'd have them! They came home to live with us tonight. They've got water, layers mash and aubiose for bessing. beach chick Posted October 7, 2010 Share Posted October 7, 2010 sweet little things! just watch out for fighting, they can be really nasty if you have the male-female ratio wrong. they are cute though - even if none of mine have laid since June.... beach chick Posted October 9, 2010 Share Posted October 9, 2010 yes, I think its a case of being even more careful than with chicken intros. today I have remixed up one group of 4 and one group of 2, because my rablu/run is now free (bunnies moved into the new WIR). so far so good, although one of the group of 2 has a big lump on its neck where it was beaten up when it was last in with all the others (about 2 mths ago). had a good look, there doesnt seem to be any sign of infection and otherwise its a very happy bird. could be a tumour I suppose, in which case it will have to take its chances.
