accidental quail!

Recommended Posts

we've had the house for some time and the intention of getting some....but haven't got round to it, well, until freecycle!

Saw a post on freecycle for '5 quail to a good home'. The guy had them living in his aviary with parakeets. He was given them by someone else. He didn't know the age, breed or sex so we said we'd have them!

They came home to live with us tonight. They've got water, layers mash and aubiose for bessing. Just need to get pots and branches and things to make the run a bit more interesting!

yes, I think its a case of being even more careful than with chicken intros. today I have remixed up one group of 4 and one group of 2, because my rablu/run is now free (bunnies moved into the new WIR). so far so good, although one of the group of 2 has a big lump on its neck where it was beaten up when it was last in with all the others (about 2 mths ago). had a good look, there doesnt seem to be any sign of infection and otherwise its a very happy bird. could be a tumour I suppose, in which case it will have to take its chances. I have everything crossed - so far so good!

hope yours are doing well.
