Soft shelled egg on way?? Updated

Recommended Posts

Poor Lola has been looking quite sorry for herself this afternoon, just mooching about in the garden then standing with eyes closed and wings slightly droopy, then half-heartedly pecking about again.

She's laid quite a few soft shelled eggs recently and had a course of Calcivet in the water, also occasional pellet porridge mixed with limestone flour.

She's in bed in the eglu now but is standing, not sitting on the perches - does it sound like a soft egg is on the way or even stuck?

Is there anything else I can do for her? Any advice would be welcome, I hate to see her unwell and sad.

Thanks so much.

Well it was definately a soft egg! She laid it early this morning and I found it under the roosting bars. I was relieved but it was shortlived as a bit later on, she was still puffed up and sleepy on and off.

This went on all day and I actually made an appointment at the vets for tomorrow but I've just taken a peak at her asleep in the eglu and noticed a jelly like but intact egg on the bars.

Been putting calcivet in the water for a few days now but how long will it be before I can expect to see it take effect?

Better cancel the vet now!

Thanks
