mrs chook Posted October 15, 2010 Share Posted October 15, 2010 Margo, one of our girls (speckledy) - started making the most bizarre screeching sound the other day. When hubby let them out yesterday, I was with dogs in garden and realised she is making the noise in answering to a crow caw cawing on a neighbour's chimney Crows fly over our house each morning on their travels from woods to fields and I don't know if she is protecting her area or what is going on - NEVER known this before Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
daxigirl Posted October 15, 2010 Share Posted October 15, 2010 Paxo makes noises like the character on the cartoon 'Battle of the Planets' (if you remember it there was one who didn't actually talk just chirupped). Sunday sounds like a goose rather than a chicken. Haven't noticed them copying the other birds, although they don't like them landing in the garden. Yes I do!! Actually it is ike that. It was definitely in line with a crow making caw caw noises - the most bizarre thing I've heard a chook do.. Toots Posted October 16, 2010 Share Posted October 16, 2010 cartoon 'Battle of the Planets' (if you remember nope far too young for that one! each of mine make different noises from a general clucking to a burble back to a noise like someone is being murdered! (usually when i am late giving out treats!) but copying another bird is a new one! maybe i should start playing recordings of quiet birds and see if they will copy those!
