jill the potter
Obviously I can't watch them all the time, but from the time I have spent with the new girls I have noticed that they seem to do a lot of just sitting, perching, roosting or whatever and don't seem to want to explore! When we had Korma, that's all her and Tikka would do, they always seemed to be 'on the go' scratching around, and generally very active. Since the new girls have been integrated with Tikka, she no longer seems as active either. Now I realise that the area they free range in is not huge and is almost complete devoid of any vegetation, but it has always been like that, and Korma would spend all her time scratching round the old logs looking for tasty insects. Have I just got two really lazy chickens? or maybe like the old Kit Kat advert with the pandas they do all their antics when I turn my back!!!! Chicken Mad
My Gladys is a bit like that. A Lady of Leisure as I call her. She is Gingernut. The other two are Pepperpots and tend to explore more. Though Florance tends to go and join Gladys most of the time. If they were not different breeds I would think they are twins joint at their hips. Whenever Gladys is pruning herself, Florance goes and prune her as well, not herself but Gladys! She has this thing about Gladys's tail feathers. If they get a bit wet or dirty she immediatly starts cleaning them. I don't mean she pecks Gladys, it's very delicate and careful exercise! I'm glad that it's not just mine that caused their part of the garden to look like moon surface. There is a one way to get them moving though. Throwing them potato or other treat (small enough to carry but too big to gobble in one), just one between the three. Then just sit down and enjoy the relay chase! Can last several minutes! I hope RSPCA would not come knocking on my door now for the cruelty to animals.

I know what you mean, with Korma & Tikka it was always cherry tomatoes - they would have made a great advert for red nose day!!!
