ClaudetteDay
hello everyone my poor little lulu is acting rather unwell . she's drinking a lot of water, moving extremely slowly and has very very runny poos-practically water. I've caught her nibbling at some spaghetti but that's about it. we took her to the vets a few weeks ago because she was acting the same way. the vet gave her an antibiotic shot. has anyone else experienced similar symptoms with one of their chickens? we're going to take her to the vets tonight and see what's going on. but i'd love to have an opinion from a fellow chicken owner. is it diabetes? a little cold? many thanks-
Steve the Gas
Have you checked her crop? Generally examine her for anything unusual.
Egluntyne
Drinking lots and doing watery poos is often a sign of kidney disease.
sandyhas3chucks
send a poo sample off for testing. About £28 and it will tell you if she has got anything and what antibiotic will fix her.
ClaudetteDay
thanks for the replies her crop was slightly full. so she is eating, just small amounts. we didn't take her to the vets last night because she perked up. but I'm waiting for a phone call from them to have a little talk. i'll take her in later today to see what's going on wish me luck! many thanks to everyone.
