How long does Flubenvet take to work?

Recommended Posts

Being new to this chicken keeping malarkey, I wonder how many days it takes for Flubenvet to start working? After approx 6 weeks of having them, One of our girls had very liquidy runny poo. Having looked on the forum and spoken to an experienced chicken owner, general advice seemed to be that she might need worming so I started Flubenvet on Saturday but I noticed today that poor Barbara still has a messy bottom (still slightly runny poo but not as liquidy). Will the wormer continue to improve matters?? In herself, Barabara remains very perky and happy, eating well and despite the cold, still laying most days.

You should see an improvement within the week. You won't necessarily see worms though if she is infested with a microscopic variety.

You can send poo samples off to labs such as Retford's to get a worm count done ... at a cost.

If she remains a bit squittery, I'd keep her on pellets and water, no extras for a few days. A handful of bokashi bran added to the pellets will help firm things up a bit, and a dollop of live probiotic type yoghurt will also help.
