Worried about white spots on wattles...

Recommended Posts

I've been getting really worried about our two chickies in this super-cold weather. Their water is frozen solid every morning (yes, I am replacing it with warm!) and the ground is almost too hard for them to dig.

Today I was checking Jane PP and noticed a bunch of white spots, like a white area on her wattles. Both sides, but worse on the left. Her comb is fine (if dirty!) and she seems in good health otherwise. Here's a photo:

The dark bits on her comb are just dirt, but she doesn't like me cleaning them.

They've both also got very muddy bellies and legs. They preen themselves and each other quite often, but I was wondering how I could clean them better? Would they like a warm bath?

i've seen those on our girls before, always thought it was just normal

as for bathing them, the only time we intervene is if they have mud balls on their feet or a particularly dirty bottom. otherwise they quite able to look after themselves.
