Graham0602
Got my Eglu Classic and 3m run and 3 girls on the lawn. Or to be more precise, the remains of my lawn surround the Eglu which sits on what can only be described as the aftermath of the battle of the Somme. All the rain and snow has made the ground sodden and the girls have dug it all up and made a right old mess , despite 100 litres of fresh bark chippings that I threw in there recently. Feel a bit mean leaving them in those conditions. Thinking of moving the Eglu onto the patio and throwing in some more fresh bark chippings or similar to make it a bit less of a hard surface until things dry out a little. Will the chickens be happy with the relatively hard surface ????? Cheers Graham
mollyripkim
My girls are have been happy on the patio with a deep layer of easibed and their run covered for the same reasons since November. They still FR every day and I will move them back to the grass in the better weather.

jlo
The first winter that we had our girls, we brought them up to the patio and put easibed/aubiose in their run and they seemed happy enough scratching around. Now that we have more and have a fenced in area for them to be confined to, they stay down the garden. However, the whole of that area is also a complete mud bath. I did put some weed mesh and rubber chippings down but that is all getting messed up now so I am not sure what else to do. Pray that it stops raining soon I guess!
