Violet, one of my ex-batt hens was fine this morning. There was a soft egg under the roosting bars of the eglu, but I don't know which chicken laid it. Went out at 3.30 to look at hens after coming home from school and Violet was crouched in the nesting box as if she was going to lay. There was a small amount of white fluid coming from her vent, then she did a poo but stayed there crouching. Later she came out and had some water then went back and has remained in the same position. This is not like her at all, she usually struts around keeping all the other 3 in order.

I'm really worried has anyone got any idea what could be wrong with her please.

too late to do much tonight anyway, there may be another softee on the way.

Check her crop 1st thing in the morning it ought to be empty but don't panic just yet if it isn't.

You MAY find another softee you MAY just see wet bedding.

And She MAY just pop out happy as Larry.

See what the morning brings and take it from there really.
