minature
Hi there one of my girls has had a bald patch at the front of her neck for a couple of months now, and now the weather has warmed up a bit she seems to be having a full neck moult. I thought this was fairly normal (after reading several websites) but now 2 of my other girls seem to also be having a neck moult. Is this just coincidence or somethign more sinister. I am fairly new to chicken problems, as although we have had our chickens for nearly a year now, we have only had an illness with one of ours who we sadly lost just a couple of weeks ago So does anyone have any thoughts or do you think it is normal. Also I could post a photo to show you (but I dont know how) thanks in advance
PeckyBeak
Neck moults are where they moult in their first year, though seems a bit late. Have you checked for mites/louse? They may be pecking thier feathers out becuase of those.
minature
I have checked for mites, and they are treated regularly. I think they must just be moulting, well I will keep my fingers crossed that that is all it is. Thanks for your help though
chickenNutter
Mabel my frzzle moulted for the first time at the end of her first year entirely on her head and neck and nowhere else. She looked awful, and it was quite a long time before it all grew back. She looks beautiful now, such a cutie.
