jacquie879
Hi there. We had 2 chickens & a bantam. Unfortunately one of the chickens 'Hettie' died unexpectedly a couple of days ago. I have no idea why she died as she wasn't old and had been laying well. She was the 'Head Boss Chicken' and the other two followed wherever she went. Now she has died the other two really don't seem to know what to do. They normally roam the garden but now are staying close to the Eglu & go to bed really early. We do want to replace Hettie with one or two chickens but would like to know what the best thing is to do in these circumstances. Thanks Jacquie
Old Speckled Hen
So you now have a hen and a bantie? I would get another two straightaway; again one of each. You will have to do the usual intro stuff though.
jacquie879
Any idea what is the friendliest breed to humans & chickens? I looked at the Australorp and though they tick all the boxes there are none available in Essex!
Old Speckled Hen
Silkies? They are small so you could get three
