PeckyBeak Posted April 15, 2011 Share Posted April 15, 2011 We have hatched some bought in eggs previously, under a broody, we kept Gilbert a rather smart Blue Laced Barnevelder and Pearl a Buff Laced Barnevelder. I am hatching some of their eggs but don't know what colour chickens I will get from their colour combination, also some bought in Cream Legbars and Barnebars which I may keep boys and girls for future breeding. I would also like to use Gilbert with some of my other pure-breeds and hybrids, of which there are many varieties, (profile not up to date) but haven't a clue what crosses would be ok to mix. Can anyone advise what the males of those three breeds could be paired with, and does anyone know of a good book that would help me undertand the possibilities and pit-falls and that explains in easy terms the brother/sister inner breeding/lines etc. bits I don't want to breed for showing, but want to breed good, healthy stock for selling on to people as pets.
