Hen not roosting

Recommended Posts

Just wondered if anyone had any thoughts about my warren. She has been sitting on the floor in the shavings instead of on the perch as usual for the last 2 evenings when I have gone to lock the hens up.The other 2 hens are roosting as normal. So tonight I thought I would help her to get up on the perch.ON the perch she seemed unable to sort her toes out to grip properly and could`nt keep her balance. She must be at least 2/3 years old now.She also has got very runny poo that is sometimes milky looking or just very white and soft. She has just been wormed with the flubenvet and was very well before she was wormed. She seems to be eating and drinking ok .The shavings are very clean but I am a bit worried that she will feel the cold if she is`nt snuggling with the others.

Thanks for reading this and hope someone can help as she is a lovely little hen.

This morning I found a strange looking egg. It looks like just the membrane of an egg with the white of the egg inside and at the ends what looks like a a tube.

I have found another like this about 3 weeks ago and an egg without a shell and yolk

I don't think she'll be cold, in weather like this. They are fairly well insulated with their feathers...

It does sound odd about her perching. Is she walking about without any problems? Do her nails need a manicure?

If there are shell less eggs you could try giving them some calcium, add some limestone flour to the food.

Unfortunately, it could just be that she is becoming an old lady.......
