Peteangewinniebetty
Hi. We've an extended (new chicken) family as of yesterday with two columbines, a white star, a silver sussex and a sussex and a Rhode rock; they are all about 16 weeks, and quite shy but one of the columbines is really very withdrawn; do I have anything to worry about? Also re my glug and grub containers - they're hung up properly, filled with fresh water and pellets but the chooks don't seem to be interested (unless they go for it whilst my head's been turned). Their run is (obviously) very new with plenty of grass and dandelions so perhaps they're feasting on that; but I do worry about the water. Egluntyne
Hello and welcome. You are probably right about them filling up on the grass. Also, until they are ready to lay, they won't eat huge amounts of pellets. The Columbine could be feeling a bit stressed. Some of them do find a move a bit of an ordeal. If she displays any worrying symptoms, like coughing, sneezing, a snotty nose or obvious diarrhoea, I'd contact the breeder. It might take them a while to notice the Glug. If you top it up through the bars they might realise what is in it.
