goldenkippers Posted May 1, 2011 Share Posted May 1, 2011 My Gingernut Ranger chicken that I've had for 1 year is limping and hopping around as if she's lame, but nothing appears to be broken or injured. She is a bit lethargic and mostly sitting in one place. On the inside of her right leg one of her scales has rubbed off. Her legs feel quite warm (but I haven't felt my healthy chicken's legs to compare). My sister is a vet and had a look at her yesterday, but she doesn't know much about chickens and said it could be an infection needing antibiotics. Redwing Posted May 1, 2011 Share Posted May 1, 2011 It doesnt sound like scaly leg, that is more obvious and doesnt usually make a chicken lame The hen will have been vaccinated against Mareks which is always a worry when a chook goes lame I'd guess that its just a sprain.
