Miss Moneypenny
Hello, I have had a sickly hen with laying problems who I have separated from my three others as she had an infection. It has been 2 or 3 days now and she has improved abit but I am taking her to the vet tomorrow. Each day I put her into the garden with the others for a short time but today they turned on her viciously! If she does get better how to I help the transition back into the flock? I guess it is the same as inroducing a new hen to a group and I expect some pecking to establish order but there has got to be a way of making it easier? Suggestions welcome... I hope to find out what has caused Pussy to be unable to make eggs with shells and shall let you all know... Many thanks
surfer_chicken
The others will be more vicious when she's ill, so they might not be like this bad once she's back to full health. Could you put her near them but separated until then so they can see each other but not get at each other? It should make reintroduction easier later. I hope everything goes well at the vets and she gets well soon
Miss Moneypenny
Thanks, She had a shot of antibiotics at the vet and I have gradually mixed her with the others again! She is a total under hen at the moment and trying to stay out of the others way but there is not any really bad pecking so I feel happy she is coping and really improving too. Her appetite is slow but it's showing... Let's see if she is able to lay an egg at all...
