Hi again

More questions . My orp is currently sitting on 12 eggs in the nest of the eglu. They are due to hatch on 22nd. I currently have the eglu door open so she can do her broody poo in the run and i have borrowed the eglu chick/small bird kit which i fitted yesterday. I have also cut up an old bath mat to make sure the chick kit isnt too slippy and put lots of straw in the nest to make it an easier climb to get out of (hopefully)

The chick kit fits ontop of the roosting bars which makes it a high climb to get back into the eglu should the chicks venture or fall out. I have a stone outside the eglu to help but cant put anything to aid them further unless i block the door from shutting

Its my first experience of hatching so i am unsure how capeable they are

I have Mum and 2 week old pekins in and shut the door at night, they are very little and wouldn't like to think a fox could hook them with it's paw

can they climb in and out of the eglu and into the run? im a bit concerned about the step

You will find that they just follow Mum desperate not to be left behind A small brick or piece of wood will serve as a step

We used a thin bit of wood as a chick slope. I kept the door shut when hatching started as a couple rolled out and had trouble getting back in.
