kittyl
my son & I were peering at Bibble's nest this morning,(she's very tolerent) straining to listen for cheeping (day 19/20) Still no sounds, we were getting worried, I carefully snuck the nearest egg out from under Bibble's wing so we could hold it up to our ears.....There was a little crack in in!!! put it straight back under & found ourselves whispering & tip-toeing away How long does it take from the first crack? is it bad that we've heard no cheeping? My son (12) has gone off to school sooooo excited I hope nothing goes wrong now!
Green Tea
It's so exciting isn't it!! (or should that be eggciting?!). My first one hatched yesterday. From seeing a small hole in the egg it was only an hour or so later that I checked again and found a chick Hopefully it won't be long. Good luck
Redwing
It can take hours from pip to hatch - you do get the odd quick one but most are hours not minutes leave her to it and try to keep the broody in the dark throughout the hatch it made me laugh that you spoke in whispers, we do this too
kittyl
Here's our first little darling. For some reason I cant post the pic without losing a big chunk on the righthand side, I've tried resizing it but chicky's face is still missing. I've not posted pics on this forum before, am I doing something wrong? I use photobucket
