C&T
Hi, after some help again... One of our chooks has become a pain with her eating one other chickens feathers. We tried normal anti peck spray, we tried Ukadex and nothing, so we got some bumper bits. We fitted it yesterday late afternoon, and the poor chook still just isn't happy. Looking at the pictures on here, and reading the various fitting instrctions, it looks right - but we have not yet seen her eating at all, and she looks just so miserable. Is it too soon, or do we need to take the bit off? I do not want to cause her unecessary suffering, although what we do about the feather eating I really do not know... Poached Egg
If its fitted ok,then she may just take time getting used to it,ours were the same.some didnt seem to notice but one took a while to get used to having a bumper bit. Have to say it was worth it.
C&T
Thanks for reply. We ended up removing it yesterday. She hadn't eaten at all (hadn't seen her eat, and then when managed to catch her again, her crop was empty) and after it was taken off, she spent a long time at the grub. Going to try the seperation route for a while. They can free range all together most of the day so no re-introduction issues, but seperate her in the evenings/mornings when the damage seems to occur. Hoping a) I can sort out alternative accomadation and b) this does work!
