squiffs
I've recently bought a red top fly trap. It hangs about 10 mtrs from the house, 5 mtrs from the Eglu (its as far away as can be!). Reading these posts, I'm now worried about smells...should I abandon all hope now and live with the flies? How bad will the smells be? I only smell mine if I stand near it, or if a strong breeze wafts past on a hot day. It's a small price to pay for less risk of flystrike in my opinion. A risk I would not want to take for my chickens. Do not just 'put up' with flies.
squiffs
Dose the Flitrap smell like the red top can? At the moment I have the red top but it's not 10m away from the house and at times it can stink. It works but I think it is attracting every fly in East Yorkshire into my garden Sage It smells like dog poo occasionally, but it's not a permanent lingering smell. jackian
Too early to tell but I brought the citronella oil as suggested . I put it in a wire basket with the oil on a cloth and yesterday not a fly in sight And a sweet smellling WIR . The day before I had a swarm ,I had a load in the morning before I put the oil out lunchtime and they disappeared...Here is hoping . Thank you
