Jenny Smedley Posted September 25, 2011 Share Posted September 25, 2011 Hi, We have a huge maple tree that gets pruned/pollarded every 5 yrs + it's about to be done this November coming up. The leaves & branches get shredded up and usually taken away but I was wondering if they would be suitable for scattering in the covered chicken run like I normally do with bark chippings that I buy from the garden centre? (It hasn't been sprayed with anything or treated) I wasn't sure whether to put this in the chicken section or gardening one but I hope someone knowledgeable will be able to help! Olly Posted September 25, 2011 Share Posted September 25, 2011 I don't see why not - I use a mixture of garden shreddings and sawdust (from chainsawing wood for the woodburner) in mine, with a bit of aubiose as well.
