Unsecure chicken perches

Hi all,

 

My first question is what are the odds to have two chickens (one Silkie and one Maran) who has never laid for me. Both are over a year old, the Maran propably two years plus? I've had the Maran for over a year and the silkie a good 6 months. Do I just assume their laying tackle is not working at all? Is this common?

 

Also, I have a Colombian Blacktail who is more often than not laying shell-less eggs. Not even a bit of a soft shell, just the egg itself. She is not that old, maybe a couple of years old. Anything I can do for her?

 

I will be starting their Flub over the weekend. They are on Garvo Layers Pellets, very little treats, and mixed grit. Out of 11 chickens I had not a single egg today. I do keep them for their eggs, and no eggs out of 11 is just crazy. Only two of them is moulting, none is broody and then the two who has never laid. OH not impressed, he says they have to earn their expensive keep!

I'm having similar problems so would appreciate some answers too!

Over the last 6 months, from 3-4 eggs a day it dwindled to one every few days and we've had none for the last week and have had to resort to buying them! I find occasional soft shelled eggs, or eggs with no shell in the poo trays. They are obviously sitting in the nestbox as there are chicken-shaped hollows in there, but no eggs. They don't seem to be broody either. I've put supplements and grit in their food, Flubenvet and dust for mites regularly, but no eggs. They don't seem to eat nearly as much as they used to either. They all have bald behinds. The feathers start to grow, then they begin to lose them again.

I've had them since June 09. Are they simply getting past it?
