chookingham
Woke up this morning to find Winnie, our other ginger hybrid pecking viciously at Amy the orp's bare patch. This is despite us creeping into the coop last night to give her a good spray of gentian. We had put Elsie back with the flock on Saturday after a week in solitary, but free ranging to give them all space and all was fine for 2-3 hours - until we spotted Elsie with a beak full of feathers. So back in solitary she went. I now think Winnie is going to have to join her. Poor Amy - I don't want to separate her from the flock, as although it will give her chance to heal, it will only reinforce her position at the bottom of the pecking order when we try to integrate her again, But at the same time, her back is in such a state I don't really know what else we can do and I feel like we take away one bully just to let another one take over. We are using anti- peck and gentian but not resorted to bumpa bits yet. I guess that is the next step....
