Maureen Murray
My silver laced Wyandot is laying soft shelled eggs, grit is supplied in abundance bur every other day she lays a soft shelled egg during early morning hours. She is eating and seems bright enough. This has been going on for 3 weeks. Can anyone advise. Thanks.
blueandwhite
My Leghorn lays softies for a few days and then returns to laying normal eggs. I know other advice on here has been no treats, worm etc. I have wormed, my two have layers pellets and grit supplied, they FR most days and now no treats until the afternoon. My other girl, Phoebe, has never laid a softie so am assuming it isn't diet or 'lifestyle!' But three weeks seems a long time, hope someone else comes along who knows more. Maureen Murray
Thanks for the reply. Interestingly enough all my other 6 girls are fine although 5 are hybrids. My other wyandot is moulting. It doesn't happen every day just every second or third day. Pedigrees have a law onto themselves. If it goes on any longer will have to get vet involved. Could it have anything to do with moulting?
Maureen Murray
Seems to have sorted itself out. Hattie is not laying any eggs soft or otherwise. That's wyandots! If they are not broody they are moulting. It's all about the looks for them. I do love them dearly just a big old fashioned henny.
