Sockpuppeting … This is the act of creating multiple forum accounts to support or defend a member's own ‘cause’ or to flame another member who happens not to have agreed with a particular point of view, and to send abusive private messages to such members.

 

Please note that it is against forum rules for members to have multiple accounts.

 

Unfortunately, there have been several recent instances of this conduct on the Omlet forum.

 

Please be aware that the moderating team can see which IP addresses members post from, and can identify which members are posting from the same address.

 

From now on, when this happens, we may have to consider banning the IP address of the misused account, which will have the effect of rendering the original account, or indeed, innocent members of the same household unable to post on the forum. Serious breaches may result in the member's service provider being notified.
