Great eggscape
My hens free range but I've just had my lawn treated and the man advised to keep the chickens in for 2w as the pellets are toxic. The dogs and children are ok on the lawn. They are going stir crazy has anyone else had their lawn treated and told this? On a positive note the hens have done a fab job of scarifying the lawn. Chucky Mama
I don't have my lawn treated anymore. The man couldn't tell me whether the lawn treatment was safe. It would sit on top of the lawn for days with no rain to wash it in and the hens would eat it. As you say they do a great job scarifying so I remove large weeds by hand and use a feed that can be watered in (rarely).
lillybettybabs
I stopped too for the same reason and the hen just ruin the grass again;I tend to fence off a area and rake in some home made compost and let the grass grow through it now. Cheaper too.
AlisonH
We get ours done and the man said to leave it for the rest of the day then after that it would be safe for the hens to return to. They returned to it the next day and have been fine.
