Kirstie
Well my chicks (coco, Sally and petal) are a week old and have lovely wing feathers and tails developing. They are even doing huge leap/flights around the run already - testing out their new feathers! I've just ordered them some chick flint grit as they are eating everything and anything! They have pretty full crops! Do other people bother with this? Do I need to try and give mum some grit with oyster shell in it yet or do I just wait until she's left the chicks and joined the big girls again? I guess she won't start laying again for a while! I have another broody hen who is refusing to budge from the nest box in the cube - I have tried shutting her out but she just sat on the steps waiting patiently all afternoon (I couldn't do it all day as I have ladies who want to lay ) Any ideas what to do - I did dunk her tummy in cold water once as a half hearted attempt at un brooding her but at did nothing. I'm in half a mind to set her up with a few eggs in the garage in my indoor rabbit run that I raised the chicks in last year but in reality I have no where for them to go once they are ready for outdoor life as my small house is currently busy with belles lot Ideas welcome!
