I keep trying to fight it but it's not going away!

I have 3 chooks in a homemade 3x2m WIR. They live in an Eglu Classic and they have a fenced off area to free range for at least part of most days (in Winter I let them have the run of the garden when they go out, but in the Summer months I grow veggies and I like the kids to be able to play poo-free). We have enough eggs for our needs, plus some to give to friends and sell to my Manager occasionally. But I can't stop thinking about how much I'd love to add some chooks that lay white, green and blue eggs to the flock. Which would probably mean that a Cube would be the best option and I'd need to upgrade. But they're SO expensive, both new and second hand, and I'm a single parent on a low income so it'd take some serious justification! If I sold my Classic it'd cover about half the cost of a new Cube.. right?! Am I mad? I keep telling myself that I should just wait til one of my girls croaks it and then add 2 newbies to my Classic, but waiting for one of them to die is such a miserable thought!!

If I keep the current set up I'd like to move the Classic to the outside of the run, facing in, to give them more floor space.. so before I start hacking holes in the mesh I really need to make up my mind about what to do long term. Buying a 2nd Classic is another option, but no cheaper.. and more of a faff on cleaning day I'd imagine?!

Is there a cure for this Morehens business?

OR.. cheaper solution, I could get 2 new chooks, set up a second nesting box in a cat carrier or similar, and have them all live in the Classic couldn't I? Seeing as the run size dictates that 6 chooks is the absolute max I can fit in..
