I know this question has probably been asked a million times before but here goes - I recently purchased a with 2m run and as I am planning on getting 4 girls decided to order the 1m extension before I got my hens. To my annoyance/dismay my eglu supplier has contacted me to say that he cannot get the cube run extensions at the moment from the eglu supplier and neither can they tell him when they will be available. I live in Southern Ireland so am limited to 1 supplier and shipping from Omlet in the UK really isn't an option as their shipping charges are prohibitive - so my question is will the 4 girls I was originally planning to get be ok in the cube with 2m run until I can get the extension? I am hoping to allow them out to FR for an hour or more each evening.

Hello and congratulations on your imminent chickens!

 

I know it would be difficult to wait, so I would say that, as long as the chickens all know each other already and get on well, that they would be fine in the 2m run temporarily. It will be a nice surprise for them when they get the extra metre! It won't be long before you start dreaming of an even bigger run...and more chickens...

Be prepared though - if it is on grass, you will need to move it daily, as a smaller run will get dirty very quickly and the grass will struggle.
