Cherry Brandy/vodka alcohol recipes *hic*

Recommended Posts

I have just picked a load of ripe cherries off our tree. They are dark red ones, not the best tasting but I think would be great for some sort of cherry alcohol. I made some a few years ago which I didn't put in extra sugar or prick the cherries and it wasn't the best tasting, a bit weak, so I would like to make some in time for this Christmas. I remember reading a recipe on the tinterweb a while ago - quite an old one - but I can't remember who it was by or where it was. Does anyone have a good tried and tested recipe they could point me in the direction of? Cheers me dears :D

I can only assume the many views were from peeps thinking I had posted a recipe - should have done a different title  Anyhoo.....

I have made some cherry brandy - or what I hope will be. I washed my cherries, cut a slit in them about halfway round, put a layer in the bottom of a large seal-able glass preserving jar, sprinkled on a table spoon of sugar, then continued. When the jar was about a third full, I poured on the brandy just in case I didn't have enough to cover the cherries and then continued with the layering of cherries and sugar and topping up with brandy until the brandy (an luckily all the cherries) were used. It is now in a dark cupboard for as long as possible. I'll let you know if it worked :D
