mumblecheekyuggs
Hello quite recently I have noticed that my bonded pair, who have been together for two months, have had a problem. My female , the older one, has started nipping his ears. The male is half the age of her but fully grown. When she does this he Runs away and will hide. But it only seems to be the ears. But the weird thing is she still manages to nip inside his ears even though he is lop eared! She has only been doing this recently but I dont no why she does it. Also, they still sit and snuggle up to each other when I'm not there but as soon as I go out she nips him. They have two tired four foot hutch, with a 6x3 run attached all the time. Plse could u tell me why she does it? Plse don't pm me as it isnt working. Thank you
lillybettybabs
Sounds like a hierarchy thing if they are still snuggling up, one of my bonded pairs went through the same thing.
mumblecheekyuggs
Okay thanks, but will they stop doing it eventually. They were eating together this morning, but then she nipped him again. But then they we're sitting together twenty mins later. How long did it roughly go on for? Thanks
lillybettybabs
It can take up to 6months but it does subside if both bunnies are neutered.
mumblecheekyuggs
Thanks Today I noticed that he is very submissive when she goes towards him. Also, is there anything I could do to help it stop? Thank you
lillybettybabs
Fuss them both at the same time when they are next to each other, a treat ball to distract the bossy one, extra water bowls and food bowls and when cleaning them out wash the hutch down with an odor neutralizing solution as this will stop it smelling more of one rabbit than the other. I use this below which is a fab alrounder. http://mistralie.co.uk/products/odourfresh-pet-disinfectant-standard
