what - no eggs?

Recommended Posts

I have three newbies. I got them when they were 10 weeks old and they are now around 27 weeks. So far I have not had one egg from any off them although the Wyandotte and the Pekin have both started to become red in the face, The Polish Frizzle doesnt go red so have not really been able to tell anything. They have grown really well and are eating and drinking fine and dont look lethargic either. I have also given them a course of Flubenvet and regularly dust with diatamous earth and spray the coop with anti mite spray. To add to that my two remaining older girls have both stopped laying. Matilda the Wyandotte has been moulting and is starting to regrow her feathers and now it looks like Madge the Pekin is starting. Am I missing something or is it just the time of year and I will have to wait until about February? This morning I have also started giving them some Apple Cider vinegar in their water in case they need a bit of perking up. :?

As they are pure breeds you may not get any till spring unfortunately but there is still a chance you might. Pure breeds also take a lot longer to mature and come into lay but since you say that some have got redder in the face you may be lucky to get some eggs soon. With the older hens they are most likely taking a break for winter and to moult. I wouldn't worry as it doesn't sound like a health issue :)
