tdf010604
I have had 3 hens which I homed together since May of this year. I have managed to wangle 1 more hen to join us, but now am a bit worried about the originals ganging up on the new arrival. What would be the best way to introduce her? any advice would be sooo much appreciated......
Redwing
It can be very very tricky indeed I would personally take one of the existing ones out and introduce one on one then introduce the pairs after a while If you dont have the spare coop to separate off in to two groups you could try to divide your existing set up If all else fails then you are going to have to introduce this hen straight to the others (though I wouldnt recommend it) in which case make sure the lone hen has somewhere to escape to (table, foilage, perch etc) Could you get two newbies perhaps? All of that aside if you arent 100% sure of the new chooks history always isolate new arrivals for at least a week
