candling questions

Recommended Posts

I don't think things are going well with my faverolle eggs. Its now day 10, so far when candling them

I can see the yolks are bigger & darker than compared to my normal eggs, but I cant see any sign of

veins or a dark spot (They are just tinted eggs, not brown), does this mean they are not developing?

This is new to me as I've always hatched with a broody so not been able to candle properly before,

- maybe I've done it too much this time. I'm wondering how long I should give them before I give up.

Is there anything else I should look for to confirm one way or the other?

if the egg's inside is getting darker then it should be developing As for veins I've never seen then in 3 years of hatching eggs. They just keep getting darker. I only remove eggs that still look like a non incubated egg at day 10 then any that are more clear than dark at day 18 but most get left until after hatch day +2 at least in the incubator has I hate to risk throwing out live unhatched chicks which is one reason I prefer using a broody their harder than me when it comes to giving up on unhatched eggs
