snailsandchickens
Hello chums :0) I have a duck and a drake Daisy and Bernard, I have a few questions regarding the eggs if she is broody and what to do. Ok so number one: How long can the eggs go with out being sat on she lays them in the same place once one is there but how dose that work? Two: If she is broody how would I know? she has been getting rather quacky recently when I go in and get the egg she lays each day? Three: How do I get her to be a good broody girl and sit on the eggs so that they hatch? She is a Khaki Cambell by the way. I know the eggs must be fertile as Bernard wont leave her alone at the moment which can be a bit scary when they are in their pond!!! If you can help or have any suggestions they will be gratefully received.
miller30
My khaki campbell girl quack quack went broody last year this was my first broody duck in 6 years you will know if shes broody as she will stay on her nest and when you go near will fluff up and if you try and touch her she will peck you it didnt end well i ended up giving her 2 lots of eggs she sat for nearly 8 weeks for nothing im not sure if it was the weather or what but they kept dying in shell she got over it in the end and joint the others but some ducks dont make very good mums and you wont beable to make her go broody you will just have to wait leanne
